Ingredients:
- 1 lb dried navy beans
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup mustard
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 6 cups water
- 1/2 lb bacon, cooked and crumbled
Instructions:
After rinsing, soak the navy beans in water for the entire night
Set the oven temperature to 325F 163C
Six cups of water and the soaked beans should be combined in a big pot
After bringing to a boil, simmer for thirty minutes
Empty
Mix the onion, molasses, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, apple cider vinegar, paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, and black pepper in a mixing bowl
Once the beans have been drained, thoroughly coat them with the sauce mixture
Spoon the beans into a baking dish and sprinkle with the bacon crumbs
Bake the dish for two hours in a preheated oven covered with aluminum foil
After taking off the foil, bake the beans for a further half hour, or until they are soft and the top has browned
